Byresteads bed and breakfast is stituated 2 miles
from the Cumbrian market town of Cockermouth, famed
as being the birth place of the Poet William Wordsworth.
You can visit his home Wordsworth House, which has
recently
been
transformed to give character showing the period when
he lived there.
Cockermouth is also home to the famous Jennings Brewery
which offers tours of its factory. There is also a castle,
museums, shops, parks and walks within the town.
For golf enthusiasts, Cockermouth Golf Club is
only 3 miles, Keswick Golf club is 16 miles and the stunning
Silloth links course is 20 miles.
Head towards the West Coast of Cumbria for the Maryport
Aquarium, the beautiful coastal village of St.Bees which
is the start of the Coast to Coast walk.and Whitehaven
with its regenerated harbour front.
The pictureque village of Lorton is only 3 miles
away and offers pub food and excellent tennis court facilities.
Continue past Lorton towards Loweswater, Crummock
Water and Buttermere, three of the prettiest lakes in
the Lake District.
