The Old Homestead is a 16th Century farmhouse, converted to the highest quality BnB and Self Catering accommodation. On entering the lobby you can see the large period bread oven, used to bake bread for the surrounding farms, still with the original dome intact. Moving through to the spacious sitting room step back in time as you stand in the unique inglenook and absorb the history.
The oak beams and doors again are a prominent feature in the dining room as is the old cast iron boiling pot. The simple yet stylish solid oak tables and chairs create a rustic farmhouse setting with 2 windows overlooking the fells – Skiddaw and The Buttermere fells in the background. Again the floor is stone with underfloor heating , all the ground floor level is accessible by wheelchairs as is the lawned garden which can be reached from the car park or the dining room.
The spacious oak beamed lounge has 3 mullioned windows overlook the fells. It's lime walls undulate reflecting the light from its surface whilst the stone floor, with underfloor heating, creates a warm ambience. The inglenook, large enough to stand up in, boasts a spice cupboard, bible hole, and small fire window. It's four leather sofas and easy chairs create an area for chatting or reading and having a relaxing drink by the log fire.or chatting or
